How does the IPL work?
The Crystal head of the machine sends a shot of light, comprised of three swift short pulses of light, into your skin. This creates a thermal effect in the hair follicle to destroy the hair growth rapidly and permanently. Repeat sessions every four weeks will continue to destroy the follicles, resulting in permanent hair reduction.

Can all areas of hair be treated?
With IPL hair can be removed from all accessible parts of the body, including legs, chin, upper lip, cheeks, forehead, bikini line, underarms, back & chest, including nipples. Certain areas may be more sensitive but IPL is safe to be used anywhere on the body. Areas such as inner ear and nostrils cannot have IPL as the crystal cannot reach these areas.

What is involved in the treatment?
You will have a full consultation with one of our fully qualified therapists to cover all your treatment needs and to devise a specific treatment plan for your hair removal sessions.
We will prepare the area of skin to be treated and the IPL crystal will be applied over the whole area to target every hair. An intense flash of light is applied to each section of the area to be treated. It feels like a tiny sting and is quite tolerable – much more comfortable than waxing.

How should I prepare for treatment?
Your skin should be as close to its natural colour as possible for the most effective treatment so 4 weeks prior to your treatment you should avoid sun exposure and tanning beds/booths. Similarly you should have no fake tan on your skin during treatment.
The area receiving IPL should be shaved 1-2 days prior to treatment. If there is an excessive hair length then the treatment will be less effective.
Post Treatment you should avoid sun exposure and tanning beds/booths for 7 days, avoid sauna’s and steam rooms for 24hrs and avoid deodorant and perfumed products on the treated area for 24hrs.
Your therapist will advise you at the time of any other precautions to take.
